Chris Beardshaw who has won Gold for the 'Wormcast

| By the age of four,
Chris Beardshaw was already growing plants, trying everything
from cress to sycamore. As he grew older, he spent his
weekends working in garden centres, selling plants and giving
advice to customers. He studied landscape architecture and
went on to train in horticulture at Pershore College, where he
taught students to degree level, specialising in landscape
design, planting design and landscape history. |
| Chris has his own
private practice, where he has designed public and private
sites ranging in size from regional reclamation schemes to
pocket-handkerchief gardens. He has also designed exhibition
gardens at national shows, and in 1999 was awarded a Gold
Medal for his "Dig For Victory" garden at the
Chelsea Flower Show.

| Chris's
TV career began in 1999 as the expert on Surprise
Gardeners for Carlton TV. From here he was potted-on
to BBC TV and Real Rakeovers, again as the expert
contributor. His first show as sole presenter was
Weekend Gardener for UKTV Style in 2000 and in the
same year he co-presented Gardening Neighbours for
BBC 2. Three series of Housecall followed and in
2000 Chris joined Gardeners' World Live as a
specialist presenter. From here it was a short jump
to Gardeners' World itself as an integral team
member alongside Monty Don and Rachel De Thame. |
